R70PF is a rules lite cinematic OSR RPG that has been in my imagination for years now, but still trapped in the weird and sometimes psychedelic 1970's and early 1980's. Journey back when spaceships were plastic models and alien monsters attacked in stop motion.

A weird retro space fantasy role playing game influenced by the Old School RPG movement.

Across the star lanes....

Somewhere beyond the heavens, A young sword priest looks to the night horizon of "Gravestars". Time is limited, the stars in the night sky already long ago destroyed, but their extinguished light has yet to reach his planet. It is a period of darkness, still bright. The spiral galaxies, like springs in a giant clock, are slowly counting down.

For 14 Billion years the universe has been expanding,  but now many fear it's reached it's limit and has started to implode on itself. Accelerated contraction with each solar system it engulfs. The light of stars being snuffed out like fragile candle flames, entire planets destroyed.

Amid  this chaos, evil empires struggle for control, Fleets of refugees flee hundreds of star systems, alien religions try to cope, and treasure hunters loot planets before their destruction.

Many turn to totalitarian regimes to hold some semblance of order. Large armies of synthetic humans and sinister agents of tyranny, controlling the populace. Others turn to the addictive spice like tallow from huge endangered space creatures. It can be used to escape from the horrors of reality or perhaps bend the very fabric of the universe itself.

Cinematic Narrative
Old School Tabletop RPG experience

This world is meant to evoke the feeling of late 1970s and early 1980’s sci-fi. So when trying to visualize, think of of the world as plastic models of ships and glass matte paintings. The more bizarre aliens filmed in stop motion with close ups of rubber masks. It is also meant to evoke the weirdness of science fiction, the end of 2001 A Space Odyssey, the unanswered questions of Alien, the mysticism of the Bene Gesserit.
